Corpus Unseen presents the denim jacket as a specimen under anatomical study, reimagined through the lens of inside-out tailoring and the minimal archetype of the hospital gown. With no buttons or pockets, structural integrity is maintained solely by ties, functioning analogously to tendons connecting limbs. Seams act as vascular conduits, sleeves extend like limbs, and the collar functions as a cranial analogue, revealing the internal archi- tecture typically concealed in conventional garments. Raw edges, displaced panels, and asymmetrical construction externalize imperfections, exposing the tension, layering, and structural complexity required to achieve apparent “perfection.” By inverting the jacket, the internal anatomy becomes the primary interface, highlighting transformation, identity, and vulnerability. The garment functions simultaneously as clothing and organism, illustrat- ing Kawakubo’s philosophy of rejecting perfection: the beauty of the piece resides not in a polished exterior, but in the intricate processes and hidden systems revealed through exposure.
